On behalf of the NSW Government, it is my pleasure to wish the Jewish community of NSW a happy and fulfilling Pesach.
On seder night, the Jewish residents of NSW will join millions of Jews around the world to retell the story of the Exodus from Egypt. Families will delight in the youngest child asking the Four Questions, and sing and read the Haggadah together over four cups of wine and a sumptuous meal.
I know how magical the seder is—many of my Jewish friends tell me Pesach is their favourite festival. It is easy to understand why.
The story of Passover is timeless – the delivery of the Jewish people from slavery to freedom. How they escaped from persecution and torment to undertake the arduous journey to the Promised Land. These twin themes of suffering and liberation echo throughout Jewish history.
Our State is greatly enriched by the contribution your community makes. I want to assure the Jewish community of NSW that tackling the rising antisemitism in our State is a priority for my Government. We led the ban on Nazi symbols which passed into law last year. And we have promised millions of dollars to bolster security for faith communities in NSW. My Ministers and I are committed to making NSW a safer and more secure place for the Jewish community.
Chag Pesach Sameach!
Yours sincerely,
The Hon Chris Minns MP
Premier of New South Wales
